Is it me or....?

Oh, give me strength! GP rings me this am, says I've arranged for you to see someone 10.30 this Thursday morning but not sure if it's a first come first served clinic or a set appointment time, so because of many and various potential problems with transport I ring to confirm. She says she dealt with a Mr or Dr Hilton. Booking's no record of it...so I get put through to Mr Hilton's secretary. She says she's no information about it either, no appointment for me, Mr Hilton has no clinics on Thursday and to go back to my GP. Call surgery and leave message. Someone rings back says GP says I need to speak to Mr Hilton's secretary as she spoke to him direct. I explain I have. Am told I need to again. Speak again to increasingly exasperated secretary (she's exasperated?) who cannot even tell me what building I should be in, let alone what department. Finally after several rounds of icily polite exchanges (I should have insisted my GP rang her apparently) she tuts and sighs exaggeratedly and says oh you don't mean your GP spoke to Doctor Hilton, do you? Apparently there is a Dr and a Mr on the ENT team and nobody thought that might be the cause of the confusion in the first place? Must have been the first time ever that happened eh?

Anyway, Dr Hilton is lovely and rang me back and we have agreed I can get the bus I can use my free bus pass on even though it might not get me there quite on time so we're all happy now and I can get on with the rest of my day....writing my third letter to Barclaycard explaining I want to close my credit card and why. They are still not getting it, or doing it...but they are investigating my complaint that it hasn't been done. I'm not irritated, exasperated or anything...honestly!

Thirdly today I give thanks for another letter from my penfriend Kostas. He is a suprisingly cheery soul and suprisingly good looking too from his photo. Love the orange clothes ha ha! He came to America to study Aeronautical Engineering before returning to Greece to work with his Dad on the airlines there...only he never went back to Greece and now he never will. Never mind we can talk about planes and the things we'd prefer to be doing!

  3. My goodness Angel, that secretary at the hospital must be an absolute airhead and incapable of lateral thinking, with 2 Hiltons in ENT it should have been her first thought. Bloody good job she doesn't work in Wales where almost every third person is called Thomas, Williams, Jones or Evans ( I can say that, I'm a half Welsh mongrel). Cor, our Lynn is a right naughty one, on CC she'd be moderated. Anyone found a darned sock, one seems to be missing, probably been subjected to transmogrify by a bigger female brain. Pat xxx
